Lan Sluder has certainly outdone himself in this well written eBook. There are always a thousand questions to be asked when one is considering the act of moving to another country and justifiably so. If moving from Detroit to Seattle is filled with dread, disorder and errors of judgment it stands to reason that the potential expatriate desirous of moving to a new country has more than their share of concerns and questions. The thing to do is to call in an expert. Lan is the expert on Belize, the publisher of Belize First Magazine, he was chosen by Fodor to update the Belize section of their guidebooks and he is the author of countless articles and several other books, much of them on Belize.

The book is nicely laid out and opens with an overview of Belize that introduces the country, it's culture, it's social make up and it's environment. Potential culture shock is bound to be lessened when you've been warned of the conditions ahead. Important facts about the history, traditions, and daily life in Belize prepare the reader for what to expect.

Lan goes into detail on helping you plan your move, providing advice that will save the reader a ton of hassles and a pile of money. Getting to Belize, getting around once we get there, and staying healthy while we are there are questions that we are all concerned with. Easy Belize anticipates our questions and gives us the answers. The book also discusses various ways to stay in Belize; as a perpetual tourist, as a resident, or by utilizing the very excellent Belize retirement program. Too many expats land in Belize and then try to figure out what's required to make it a permanent stay after the fact.
Real estate is a major reason most of us want to move to Belize. Real estate in Belize is many times cheaper than it is in the USA or Europe, and the real estate one sees in Belize is ocean front, island style, country farm sort of stuff. In short, it's great real estate. However, it's no secret that real estate in much of Latin America can be a mess of pottage. Laws differ from what Americans and Europeans are accustomed to. The physical and social environment of each of these areas is also described, which will help the reader make decisions about where they want to look once they get to Belize and what to expect in each of the prime areas.
Belize, and those who want to move to Belize have deserved a book like this. Last fall, FOX Television aired a program called Temptation Island, filmed on Belize's Ambergris Caye. As a result, tens of millions of U.S. viewers were introduced overnight to the nation of Belize. Many viewers had never heard of Belize prior to the show. The program caused the price of real estate on the island of Ambergris to jump as much as 100% in the months that followed. The cost of accommodation and other travel expenses skyrocketed as much as 300%.

USA Today stated that, "The series looks to be a boon for Belize," Holly Cabiedas, a reservations manager at one of Ambergris' upscale resorts, told the newspaper that "the phones went crazy," the day after the premiere. It's apparent that Belize is on a roll.
Easy Belize, by Lan Sluder is the right eBook at the right time. It is only the second book, to my knowledge, to concentrate on the logistics of moving to Belize, the first being the Belize Retirement Guide by Bill & Claire Gray. There are almost a dozen books on moving to Costa Rica despite the fact that more expatriates are moving to Belize than to Costa Rica, so this eBook is a much needed resource that was a long time coming. In this reviewer's opinion, Lan Sluder's Easy Belize eBook, should set the standard for future books & eBooks about moving to other countries. They both cover questions that I myself would ask about a finding a home away from home. Easy Belize includes photographs, maps, charts, cost of living comparisons, profiles, contact information and all the internet resources that Lan felt were relevant.
